"Nothing's impossible to a determined heart"

"A Pink Heart" is an award and beauty service that every military spouse deserves. The gift of self-confidence is priceless. "A Pink Heart" creates a path to the invaluable gift of helping to build the self-esteem of those whose spouses are making the selfless gift of military service for the United States of America. That military service promotes peace, harmony and the protection of American ideals. "A Pink Heart" is a service in a hair salon, with the main objective being to reach out to military spouses, and meet their beauty needs at a fraction of the price of similar services at a mainstream salon. Special targets of "A Pink Heart" are Spouses of Deployed Soldiers. The program will create an outlet for the spouses of deployed soldiers to maintain or regain their strength, and continue to build their self-confidence through beauty treatments at no cost or a small voluntary donation. In general "A Pink Heart" is a service that supports military spouses with their beauty needs, showing them that their family's contributions are appreciated and valued.

My husband Jordan is a US Air Force pilot currently training in the F-16 "Fighting Falcon" at Luke Air Force base in Phoenix, Arizona. In May 2007 I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and on July 28, 2007 I said, "I do" to my high school sweetheart and my entire life changed. I was now a military spouse. I knew that the day I said "I do" it was "for better or for worse until death do we part". I signed up for an adventure that no one could explain or prepare me for. The first nine months of our marriage we were stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California. From there we moved to Enid, Oklahoma to Vance Air Force Base, were my husband completed flight school. A year and a half later we were sent on Temporary Duty to Randolph Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas. Three months later is where you find me now at Luke Air Force Base. In ten months we will be deployed to an unknown location. We are just at the beginning of an exciting journey! It has been a challenge for me to find a good hair stylist, keep a steady job, and create a lasting impression due to our short stays. Due to these challenges, and my personal desire to help others, I started cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell the School Phoenix, with the idea that I could have a mobile career and start "A Pink Heart".

I have a deep desire to change lives. I am not creating "A Pink Heart" to gain riches, because I am rich in love. I am not looking to gain fame, as I just want to make a difference. I am proud to be a military wife, one of the most difficult jobs in the armed services, and I want to pass my joy and my gift of creativity through beauty onto others. I'd like to leave my footprints at each base where we are stationed by helping spouses, just like myself, grow in self confidence so they can continue to support their soldiers, sailors, and airmen whether home or away. I want to support other spouses in their important job that takes courage, faith, adventure, trust, support, patience, tolerance, and love.

Creating "A Pink Heart" has become my mission, as I have seen first-hand the challenges and how some spouses "give up" or "let themselves go" due to depression, loneliness, or lack of support. "A Pink Heart" will provide support and a place where spouses of deployed soldiers can come for their beauty regiments at no cost or a small voluntary donation. Services will be provided to all other military spouses at a fraction of the cost of mainstream salons. All tips received on top of regular priced services will be put into the "A Pink Heart" to continue and build the program.

I have no idea what the future holds for my husband's assignment. There will always be an "unknown" when it comes to his next deployment. "A Pink Heart" will not only help others, but it is my hope that this personal mission will help me, as together my clientele and I experience the adventures of military life.
